Now that I have taken on the role of being a Stay at Home Mom, I have been compiling a list of things I’d like to do this summer with my kids. I have never had the experience being home with them in the summertime other than a week of vacation that I would take at work. I’m so excited to finally be able to have some fun in the sun! I thank God everyday that I have been given this opportunity to be with them. I thought it would be fun to share my list so far and see if you my readers have anything that you’d like to add. It’s a long summer, so the more the merrier! J
· Have an indoor picnic (perfect for a rainy or really hot day)
· Play in the sprinkler
· Start a garden (flowers and veggies)
· Go bird watching
· Take a trip to the local park
· Go visit a children’s museum
· Go berry picking at the orchard
· Set up a lemonade stand
· Go fly kites
· Build a fort out of pillows and blankets
· Have a water balloon fight
· Go bowling
· Spend a day volunteering our time for a local charity
· Go to the beach
· Make some homemade bubbles and wands
· Start a fire and make smores!
· Take a trip to the amusement park
· Camp out in the backyard (my husband will be doing this….I choose to stay inside where it’s bug free!)
· Go to the petting zoo
· Make homemade popsicles
Please add any more you can think of in the comments section below. I’d love to hear your ideas! J
Have a great day!

How about these: visit the library (see if they have a summer reading program for kids - mine even gives stickers, pencils, etc); bake cookies; have a family movie evening each week show their choice eat pizza and popcorn; plan a treasure hunt for them ending with a cool "treasure" just for them; or a water gun fight! Enjoy your summer!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Sherry! A treasure hunt sounds like a great idea....I'm all over that! :-) Enjoy your summer as well....
DeleteI forgot to mention something for you. Don't forget about yourself - you still need to grow and have fun too. Summer is a great time for this. I really don't know you but how about learning a new skill: how to quilt? how to sew? how to knit? photography class? scrap booking? calligraphy? playing a musical instrument?
ReplyDeleteFor your vege garden try shooting veges for it from kitchen scraps. Things like herbs can be grown from the discarded stems. Celery, shallotd and carrot can be started from the offcut root end. Potatoes from the eyes that sprout. Very rewarding and less kitchen waste.
ReplyDeleteWow! I didn't realize you can regrow such a variety! I knew that scallions could be regrown but carrots and potatoes? Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
DeleteThese are some great summer fun ideas. I am definitely going to have incorporate the water balloon fight. My daughter would have a blast with it. I'd love to have you link this up to Titus 2 Tuesday on Cornerstone Confessions tomorrow.

Don't forget to catch lightning bugs (fireflies) in a jar with holes punched in the lid! (you can let them go later...) We have a snocone place (hawaiin ice?) in town that we hit at least once every summer. (it's a little pricey but I'd love to plan on trying 3 new flavors this year...)
